St. Bonaventure Indian Mission and School is currently the largest provider of employment in Thoreau, an area with staggering unemployment and consistently high poverty.
The Mission is committed to developing the local workforce and providing living wage jobs for Navajo people. Seventy-five percent of the Mission staff are Dine, providing essential support to the School and Mission offices in a variety of occupations including:

- Food Services staff

- Security staff
